Buying Indian sarees online from the USA: shipping, sizes and blouses
If you live in the USA and want a saree from a real Indian shop rather than a faceless marketplace, the questions are always the same: can I trust it, what will it cost to ship, and what happens at customs. Here are honest answers from a Delhi family shop that posts to the USA every week.
Buying from a real shop, not a warehouse
The difference between a counter and a marketplace is that someone has actually handled your saree. At our shop in Connaught Place, the same family has checked cloth since 1947. When you order online, that has not changed: a person folds and packs the piece you chose. If something is not right, you ring us and a person answers.
What shipping to the USA costs and how long
Shipping a saree to the USA from our shop is a flat ₹3,000, by tracked courier. Most orders reach you in about seven to twelve working days. You are charged in Indian Rupees; your card or bank does the currency conversion at its own rate, so the dollar figure depends on the day.

Customs and duty
For a single saree or two, you almost always fall under the United States threshold for duty-free personal parcels, so there is usually nothing to pay on arrival. For larger orders, duty may apply, and it is paid by the person receiving the parcel, not by us. We declare contents honestly on every parcel, because the alternative is how parcels get stuck.
Blouses, stitching and size
Most of our sarees come with a blouse piece, an unstitched length of matching fabric, so your own tailor can stitch it to your measurements. A saree itself has no size; it is a single length of cloth that suits every body. If you are unsure whether a particular piece includes a blouse, the product page says so, or you can ask before you buy.
Paying from abroad
Checkout takes international cards and the usual online methods. Cash on delivery is an India-only option, so from the USA you simply pay online when you order. Returns run for seven days, the same as in India.
